Electrical Wiring Cost for a New Home: Budget Guide

·5 mins read

What's Included in Electrical Wiring?

A complete electrical wiring job includes: conduit piping (concealed), copper wires in multiple gauges, modular switches and socket plates, MCBs and the distribution board (DB), ceiling fan and light points, AC points with dedicated lines, geyser points, exhaust fan points, and TV/internet outlets. The cost splits roughly 40% materials and 60% labour for new construction.

1 BHK: Rs 50,000 - 80,000

Approximately 15-20 electrical points, 1-2 AC points, 1 geyser point. Wire requirement: 200-300 metres across gauges. Switch plates: 15-20 modules. MCBs: 6-8 in a small DB. Labour: Rs 25,000-40,000. Material: Rs 25,000-40,000. Using Havells or Polycab wires with Legrand or Anchor modular switches.

2 BHK: Rs 80,000 - 1,30,000

Approximately 30-40 electrical points, 2-3 AC points, 1-2 geyser points. Wire: 400-600 metres. Switch plates: 25-35 modules. MCBs: 10-14 in a standard DB. This is the most common scope in Gurgaon apartments. Labour: Rs 40,000-65,000. Material: Rs 40,000-65,000.

3 BHK: Rs 1,20,000 - 2,00,000

Approximately 45-60+ electrical points, 3-4 AC points, 2 geyser points, plus outdoor/balcony points. Wire: 600-900 metres. Switch plates: 40-55 modules. MCBs: 14-20 in a larger DB. Labour: Rs 60,000-1,00,000. Material: Rs 60,000-1,00,000. Premium modular switches (Legrand Myrius, Havells Crabtree) can push material costs higher.

Where to Save, Where Not To

Don't save on: wire quality (always buy ISI-marked HRFR), MCBs (use branded — Havells, ABB, Schneider), and earthing (critical for safety). Safe to save on: switch plate design (basic modular works fine), decorative covers (can upgrade later). HandyPanda delivers all electrical materials across Gurgaon in 60 minutes — order wires, switches, MCBs, and accessories in one go.
